These workshops are open to all students from grade one and above.  Music covered will be at a variety of levels within the workshops.

Sunday Workshops 

Improvisation; exploring extended technique and rhythmic patterns for harp

Tutor: Claire Jones

This workshop will give harpists the opportunity to explore a variety of extended techniques not always found in day to day harp music! Using rhythmic patterns based on patterns found in a variety of world music harpists will improvise exciting styles.

Writing your own accompaniments

Tutor:  Meinir Heulyn

A chance to work with Meinir on some simple but beautiful Welsh folk songs, marches, dance and penillion harp tunes, all chosen to expand your ability as a harpist as interesting patterns and textures are discovered within your own level of playing.

A fun and rewarding class which will help you build your repertoire and confidence!

Exploring traditional Welsh music

Tutor: Gwenan Gibbard

In this workshop you will explore some beautiful traditional Welsh tunes with Gwenan’s delightful approach, this workshop will focus on harp without voice. If you would like to sing and learn to accompany yourself please book on to Gwenan’s Monday workshop.

Explore traditional Irish Music

Tutor: Harriet Earis

In this workshop you will explore beautiful Irish tunes on the harp and is highly recommended to anyone who has an interest in Irish music. Harriet will share her knowledge and skills with you in this workshop.

Develop your Harp and voice talents! All to be sung in the medium of welsh

Tutor: Gwenan Gibbard

In this workshop you will work on using voice and harp together. All songs will be Welsh medium. If you are interested in learning to accompany your own or others voices on the harp this is the workshop for you.

Explore the delights of traditional Scottish Music

Tutor: Harriet Earis

In this workshop you will explore the delights of Scottish music on the harp. Harriet will guide you through different moods and styles of music associated with Scottish music looking at a variety of different tunes and accompaniments together.

Exploring traditional Welsh music

Tutor: Glenda Clwyd

Glenda will offer her own approach to exploring Welsh tunes in a workshop. If you enjoy the traditional of music of Wales this is a course not to miss.




Open Masterclass with Catrin Finch

Sunday 3pm to 5pm

A fantastic opportunity for students of all ages and abilities to take part in a masterclass with Catrin Finch. Each participant will have 15 minutes of the masterclass session to work on a piece of their choice with Catrin and masterclass audience. If you would like to watch the masterclass please purchase a ticket in advance from NBGW or from the gatehouse on the day.

Playing participants fee: £37.50
